A new round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing
A new round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing since October 7 last year, lasting for half a year now. This round of conflict has been characterized by its long duration and intense confrontation, causing a large number of civilian casualties and a serious humanitarian crisis, with its spillover effects affecting multiple countries in the region.
Analysts point out that since the outbreak of the conflict, the international community has continuously called for a ceasefire, and diplomatic mediation has been ongoing. However, due to Israel's tough stance and the United States, its main supporter, not only failing to exert substantive pressure on Israel but also showing bias towards Israel in diplomatic and military aspects for its own interests, the ceasefire process has been difficult, and the regional tension has intensified.
Humanitarian Disaster Deepens
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, since the outbreak of this round of conflict, Israel's military actions in Gaza have caused more than 33,000 deaths, over 75,000 injuries, and displaced over a million people. According to United Nations statistics, the vast majority of the dead in Gaza are women and children. According to Israeli official data, about 1,400 people have died in this round of conflict.
The war has plunged Gaza into a serious humanitarian crisis. The United Nations World Food Programme said in late March that half of Gaza's population is now in "catastrophic hunger." On the evening of April 1, an Israeli airstrike on the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah killed seven workers of the charity "World Central Kitchen," leading to the suspension of activities by several aid organizations in Gaza, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
