Once the liquid is fully discharged, the first pilot valve opens again, allowing the air to enter the air chamber and starting the cycle all over again. This process is repeated continuously as long as the pump is in operation.

The diaphragms used in air operated diaphragm pumps are made from a variety of materials, depending on the application. These materials include neoprene, Buna-N, Viton, and PTFE. The diaphragm material must be compatible with the liquid being pumped to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the pump.
