Can you put paper take out containers in the oven?

Over the past three years, the number of people requesting for takeout services, delivery services, and home meal replacement options has increased. The coronavirus pandemic is said to be the major factor that drove many people to start requesting these services. As the restrictions on public gatherings and social distance rules were maximized, many people opted to have their purchases made online with deliveries to their doorsteps.

Although the regulations have since loosened after the pandemic became largely controlled in many parts of the world, people are still clinging to the conveniences of these options. It is one thing to order food for delivery and it is another thing to eat it as ordered. Usually, you have to warm the food or prep it a little bit in the oven.

As the number of deliveries has increased, vendors have continuously opted for cheaper and more sustainable packaging materials. When you are selecting containers for your meals, it is important to ensure that the packaging provides the same experience at home as it would at your premise.

Disposable containers for the oven

Often times customers request oven-ready meals that are hot. But sometimes you may need to contain the food in disposable containers so that the food can be prepared, stored, transported, and reheated as needed without having to change the container.

Having to transfer the food is an unnecessary process that creates unnecessary messes and may even worsen the presentation of the food. Containers that are safe for the oven thrive on efficiency and safety. You can cook these foods right after you pick them from the display without having to change the containers.

Ovenable takeout foods are packaged in containers made using materials such as paperboard, molded fiber, and aluminum. All these materials can handle a lot of heat such as the one generated by ovens. But not all containers are not ready for the oven. The general rule is that a container should have a temperature tolerance of at least 400 degrees Fahrenheit to be considered safe for the oven.

Conclusion

Before buying the takeout, confirm that the Disposable Paper Food Container is labeled oven-ready. You can look in the label for a picture of the oven or the temperature ranges printed at the bottom of that container. You should not assume at face value that all disposable hot cups and containers with lids are safe for oven use.

This is my second time purchasing these containers. The first time, I was unaware that the lids were not durable, i broke a couple, warped a few. In spite of this, I have ordered them again. This time, the company emailed me personally and informed me that the lids were not dishwasher, oven or microwave safe.

Even knowing this, the container is a GREAT size for meal prepping. My SO and I both work, so be able to prep and freeze make ahead meals is a necessity. This container is also the perfect size for a qt salad jar. I take this container and the salad to work, dump in the salad, shake to dress and eat. The lids stays on, no leaks. The hand washing of the lid is a pain, but over all a good container.

I would give it 5 stars if the lid was dishwasher safe.
